Rebecca Turmel originally intended to pursue a career in musical theatre, but her path quickly changed when she taught herself to play the guitar and began to explore who she was through her own music. Rebecca found a much deeper connection with pairing her emotive vocals and six strings to tell her stories, so she took a leap of faith and quit her day job to become a full-time musician in late 2020. Her journey began performing at open mics, which soon turned into a full schedule of professional shows, and led her to embark on her recording career in 2022. Her latest release, The Road Song, tells the story of the life she’s been living these past few years.
Rebecca’s music is a unique blend of country, rock, and pop. It’s hard to put her into a box as she is influenced by an eclectic musical taste, but what we do know is her lyrics are honest and heartfelt. Her voice is both powerful and vulnerable. She has a gift for telling stories that connect with her listeners on a personal level. Rebecca is a true artist and her music is sure to touch the lives of many people. Although she is fairly new to the world of songwriting, Rebecca proves to have a penchant for writing infectious tunes and relatable narratives.
Her debut single, Am I Missing Something, was released in July 2022 and has over 10k streams. After the success of her first release, Rebecca decided to “go big or go home” and recorded her next single, Girls on Fire, at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN. She worked with producer Bryan Clark (Bonnie Raitt, Kelsea Ballerini, Lisa Loeb) and engineer Michael Walter (Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood) on this track. Girls on Fire also features some of Nashville’s finest musicians including Adam Fluhrer on Electric Guitar (The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell), John Henry Trinko on Piano (Kacey Musgraves), and Chris Brush on Drums (Toby Mac). She recently just got back from another recording trip to Blackbird Studio working on her next single with the same production team. Another big project is on its way, so stay tuned…
